Watches Knowledge

Please note that although many watches are water-resistant to a certain degree, ModernTimes.io suggests to keep your watch away from water whenever possible. Furthermore, double check that the crown of your watch is closed and tightly screwed in at all times to avoid water/liquids entering into the case and into the movement.

We inspect every watch before carefully packing and shipping it to make sure that our products will be in perfectly working conditions when they arrive to you.

We remember and advise our Customers to not wear their watches while swimming or even taking a shower. It is very important to prevent that humidity, moisture, water and/or other liquids (as well dust particles) enter the watch. We, ModernTimes.io, can not guarantee the correct functioning of the watch if it has been used and worn in or near water or liquids, causing water leakage into the case of the watch.

**Please note that ModernTimeWatch.io DOES NOT COVER any water damages even though your watch is indicated as waterproofed from the factory. Our replica watches are of the highest quality and are built with the latest technology standards, nonetheless the best rule to keep your replica watch in the best conditions is to avoid water. It is as simple as that.

The maximum depth resistance under water is measured in "atmospheres" - (ATM) or "bar-tested" at the labs. One ATM corresponds to 10 metres of static water pressure.

A water-resistant watch can be exposed to light moisture, such as light splashes of water like when washing your hands**. However, some water-resistant watches can be submerged into water to the maximum depth resistance as and only when specifically indicated. Always remember that replica watches are not made to be used to the same extent as the genuine ones. A replica dive watch will not withstand the same water pressures as the genuine one it refers to, does.

** Please note that all replica watches indicated as water-resistant in their description can withstand light moisture only, accordingly to the above specification. We highly disclaim the use and wear of replica watches in water environments like seas, lakes, swimming pools, showers, hot tubs, saunas and generally in similar situations that involve the submersion of your replica watch in liquids, i.e. water, cold or hot. Not only water and humidity will damage the internals of your watch but also many chemicals that can be found in water: i.e. the salt in sea water or the chlorine found in swimming pools water. Said chemicals and also many more will harm your replica watches and as well genuine watches.

*** Unless indicated and specifically stated in the description of the replica watch of choice, your watch should never be submerged into water. All chronograph watches, even if stated as waterproofed from the factory, should never be submerged underwater nor should they be used underwater. The pusher construction that operates the chronograph mechanism will seep in moisture/water when operated underwater or even when the watch is in a humid condition i.e. under a rainshower. This is a general and very important guideline for the safety of all watches, replicas and genuines as well. Never operate buttons, pushers, crowns, bezels when underwater and when the watch is wet.

Upon receiving the watch, just wind it. It is likely that the power reserve of the watch will get close to zero during the shipping time. Wind the watch by turning the crown for about 15 - 20 full turns clockwise. If your watch is powered by a battery, there is no need to wind it. If your watch crown is hard to turn, release it by turning it anti-clockwise until it is loose. Then you can wind it up for about 15 – 20 turns clockwise, as mentioned before. Once the watch is powered up, gently push the crown towards the case while turning it clockwise at the same time. Tighten the crown good enough to be securely screwed on the thread. By manually winding up the watch it will immediately start to tick and run.
If your watch is a quartz version and it doesn't run or suddenly stops running, it means that the battery is empty. Please replace it with a new battery.

If it is an automatic watch, it runs on the stored energy (power reserve). It gains kinetic energy from the movements of the human hand. When not worn or moved for some time, an automatic watch eventually will run out of its charge and it will stop. To power it up again, just wind the crown clockwise for about 10 - 12 turns.

To adjust the displayed date and day (if your watch has these functions) please refer to the kind of watch to adjust said functions. Adjusting the day or the date depends on whether the crown has the adjusting function or it is operated via button pusher. If the day/date function is crown adjusted, pull lightly out the crown once to adjust date/day (most watches work like that). Pulling out the crown one step further will adjust the time. If it is a screw-in crown, unscrew the crown anti-clockwise and follow the same instructions to adjust date/day and time.

To set time unscrew the crown in an anti-clockwise direction. With your index finger and second finger softly pull out the crown until you feel a secure engagement click. The finger knuckle can be used as a lever in order to pull out the crown very gently. When it clicks for the first time you can set the time by turning the crown anti-clockwise. Turn the crown to move the minute and hour hands forward until the right time is displayed. After setting the right time, push back the crown and turn it back clockwise for a few turns and/or until it is securely tightened. Always double check that the crown is well closed to prevent that dust and water could enter the movement and as well to protect the attachment of the crown itself.
GMT (Global Mean Time) means Dual Time Zone and on a watch it is displayed by a 24-hour clock system instead of a 12-hour clock like we normally see. GMT can be set with two time zones. A local minute-hour hand time and the second GMT arrow/hand (sometimes red) that displays the second time zone.

To adjust the time zones, please follow the instructions below: all operations further explained are to be executed with absolute care and gentleness when engaging the crown mechanism.

Unwind softly and slowly the crown anti-clockwise until it loses up. The crown mechanism has two different pull out positions, one after the other, in a sequential order as follows: after loosening the crown and pulling it outwards you get the first position (STEP ONE) for setting up the GMT time, pulling it out a little further until it clicks into the second position (STEP TWO) will allow you to set the local time. Please operate the crown mechanism always very lightly and carefully.

STEP ONE (first click) is for setting the GMT second time zone. STEP TWO (second click) is for setting the local time. In position one (first click) set the GMT second time zone and date winding the crown clockwise and anticlockwise respectively. Pulling out the crown one more step will allow you to set the local time. Pushing the crown back inward one step will bring it back to the GMT setting. Pushing the crown another click will bring it back to normal position. Now you can wind back the crown to the closed position turning it clockwise while pushing it softly towards the case. This will close the crown in a secure position.

Always remember to set the local time FIRST followed by the GMT second time zone setting. When you set the local time, the GMT time will also change at the same time according to the local time that you set. Local time and GMT time are synchronised to allow us to know the actual time in both GMT zones at a glance. When in your local time an hour passes, it does on the GMT hand as well.

A new battery will normally last for about two years. Depending on the date of the last replacement, you will probably need to change the battery within two years.
To change date and time you will do the following. If you have a screw-in crown like a Rolex, you will turn the crown anti-clockwise for a few turns until the crown is loose. To avoid damages to the stem be very careful. Softly pull out the crown using your thumb’s nail and index finger’s nail until it clicks, which means the mechanism is engaged. This is the position of the crown mechanism used to set the date (and day if you have a Rolex Day-Date), pulling out the crown a further step brings you in the position to set the local time (see Q3 and A3 for details). You can only set the date forward by turning the crown in one direction. When date and time are set, gently push back the crown and wind it (lightly pushing it against the case to engage the thread) clockwise for a few turns and surely lock it in the closed position. You are done.
A screw-in crown will lock the crown on the thread and into the case of the watch. To do this turn the crown clockwise toward the watch case and on the thread. It will seal off the movement of the watch when it is screwed tight. Most Rolex watches use a screw-in crown. To wind your watch, unlock the crown by turning it anti-clockwise until you see that the crown comes off the thread, about 1.0 to 1.5 mm from the side of the case. Never force the crown or apply too much pressure because it could easily break the stem link attached to the movement. Only when the crown is open (or loosen from the thread) you will wind it, adjust the time, date and day just like any watch. To close the crown, slowly turn it and gently push it toward the case until it is tightly locked again. There is absolutely no need to apply extra force if it is well closed. For most other non screw-in crown watches, the winding and date-time setting operations do not need to unscrew (open) the crown from the thread.
Recessed pushers are buttons that are designed in a way that the button is inside the watch case, mostly for appearance purpose. These are often used in order to save space and/or for a cleaner design of the watch (mostly in watches with a few complications). Usually, recessed pushers engage the setting of the date, the year, the day, the month etc. To operate recessed pushers use the special tool (a ball-point pen will also greatly do) to push the recessed pusher all-the-way in and then fully release it. This operation will engage the related mechanism and change the relative setting by +1 unit (+1 day, +1 month, +1 year and so on). Repeat the process until you set it right. Never push halfway or release half way a recessed pusher, it could cause a misalignment of the gear by moving it half way only. It would then show the wrong information and it might damage other mechanical parts in the watch’s movement.
The Daytona is a chronograph watch with special protective screw-in/lock chronograph pushers. This is a unique feature of the Rolex Daytona. To operate the chronograph function, unwind the protective screw-in pushers to push the buttons. The button on the top right starts and stops the chronograph, the button on the bottom right resets the chronograph. Always push the buttons all the way and fully release them after. Pushing halfway the buttons may cause malfunctions and even severe mechanical problems. After using the chronograph function, always remember to close the pushers by screwing them back on the locked position. This is necessary to protect your watch from water and dust and to protect the pushers themselves from accidental impacts that could damage the stems of the buttons.
To avoid damages to the delicate mechanisms of the Valjoux 7750 movement follow the instructions listed below:

If your Valjoux 7750 has the date function, DO NOT ADJUST the date between 10:00 PM and 3:00 AM. The gears of the movement could be easily damaged and or misaligned. If you need to change the date late at night, change the time first to 6:00 (AM or PM) and only then change the date. Re-set the time.

To start the chronograph push the top right button, push it again to stop it. To reset the chronograph push the bottom left button. Never push the bottom right button (reset button) while the chronograph is running, it could damage the internal gears. This is the only right and safe way to use the chronograph complication.

REMEMBER: to START & to STOP the chronograph use the TOP pusher.

Carefully follow the above instructions to preserve the movement of the watch and keep it at its best for a long time to come. Every replica watch on the market will not last a lifetime, even if you take good care of it. These watches are of high quality relative to the replica watches standard, but remember that replica watches are not of the same quality as COSC certified genuines nor are they Swiss (Geneve) made nor stamped. We remember that a replica watch is always a replica, they share the esthetics of the genuines at fraction of the cost but clearly they are not genuines.

A tachymeter is an instrument that determines the speed of an object using time as a reference on a scale that usually is to be found on the dial of a watch. In fact, many sports watches have such scale either on the rim or on the bezel. In conjunction with the second hand, the tachymeter complication can tell the speed of a moving object. The tachymeter uses a predetermined value of less or equal to a minute and converts it into the measure of miles or kilometers per hour. For example, the speed of a car passing between two mile markers on the highway is easily measurable with a tachymeter watch. Push the start button when the car passes the first mile marker, stop the tachymeter when the car arrives at the second mile marker (or km marker) and the relative hand will show you on the tachymeter scale the average speed.
